ARTIST. Berlin.

The way one tends to their plants is the way one tends to their art. Ok, this is not a common aphorism, but perhaps it should be.  Adrienne Kammerer's bright and airy studio in Berlin's bustling Neukolln neighbourhood would be the perfect tribute to this statement. Having made her name doing disjointed family portraits and sometimes butts rendered in delicately graded shades of graphite, Adrienne has recently turned her attention to slightly larger and more disturbing/humourous landscapes. Deeper, darker subject matter has emerged, to compliment a heavier-handed approach to materials. In contrast, the space in which Adrienne creates these worlds is a sparse and sun-filled, leaving little room for distraction. We watered her plants together, and I found out that sometimes over-loving something is just as likely to kill it...
